Moldovan PM launches National Council Economic Empowerment and Gender Equality

Chisinau, 12 June /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Dorin Recean has participated in the launch of the National Council for Economic Empowerment and Gender Equality. The event was held at the headquarters of Glia Impact Hub – a new platform for businesswomen, launched in late last May.
In his speech, the PM stressed that the government wanted each woman of Moldova to have opportunity and resources necessary, in order to develop her own business. '‘The newly created structure - National Council for Economic Empowerment and Gender Equality – will provide the expertise needed for the government to improve its policies and Moldova to become the friendliest country from the region for starting businesses,’’ Prime Minister Dorin Recean said.
The PM referred also to the achievements from the last years as regards the support for women and the promotion of the gender equality. In particular, he highlighted the National Strategy of Economic Development, which promotes an inclusive economy, focused on equal chances. Also, the governmental programme on backing the women’s entrepreneurship was developed, with a budget of 30 million lei and a period of implementation of three years, from which at least 90 women entrepreneurs will benefit.
The prime minister noted that the business women had a decisive role in the reformation of the framework of regulation of the entrepreneurial activity and urged them to participate in this process. ‘’I want to invite you to actively participate also in our country project: to edify the European Moldova,’’ Prime Minister Dorin Recean said.
The National Council for Economic Empowerment and Gender Equality will work on the platform of the Economic Council under the Prime Minister of Moldova and is a public-private platform of dialogue.
The innovations centre, Glia Impact Hub, is opened at the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova and represents a platform of cooperation, encouraging and learning for the young women from Moldova.
