Moldovan PM has meeting with foreign affairs minister of the Netherlands

Chisinau, 14 May /MOLDPRES/ - The priorities set by the cabinet, the agenda of reforms implemented in Moldova for ensuring the economic development and the country’s European integration, the security situation in the region, as well as possibilities of extending the Moldovan-Dutch commercial and economic cooperation have been discussed by Prime Minister Dorin Recean at a meeting with Foreign Affairs Minister of the Netherlands Hanke Bruins Slot, the government’s communication department reported.     

The prime minister appreciated the support provided by the Netherlands to Moldova, which contributes to the consolidation of diverse key sectors, emphasizing the support provided by the Dutch side to Ukraine, due to which there is peace in Moldova, as well on the entire European continent. Thus, the Moldovan authorities can focus on the development of the country, based on those four priority criteria: growth of the economy and welfare, ensuring the peace and security and combating the corruption and Moldova’s accession to the European Union.      

„Europe means peace, security and well-being. This is the model according to which we modernize our country and the basic goal towards the fulfillment of which we move in an accelerated pace. At the same time, we put emphasis on the economic improvement and attraction of foreign investments in the national economy, in order to create jobs and enhance the quality of living of our people,’’ PM Dorin Recean said.     

In the context, the prime minister referred to the government’s efforts in the creation of safe and predictable business environment; he also touched upon the opportunities provided by Moldova in promising sectors. Among them, there are the energy and financial sectors, the pharmaceutical field, information technologies and electronics.      

For her part, the foreign affairs minister of the Netherlands stressed that her country stayed a reliable partner for Moldova in the efforts of the country’s modernization, investments’ attraction and carrying out of the European agenda. ‘’The present realities shows how important the European Union is for Moldova. We will be with you and will contribute to the turning to good account of all opportunities which you provide.” 

The sides also discussed the Moldovan-Dutch cooperation in the economic sector, mentioning the business forum due to be held within Moldova’s days in the Netherlands on 28-30 June 2024. Also, the two officials referred to such subjects as Russia’s hybrid attacks, launched in Moldova, and the importance of ensuring the independence of the mass media.
