PHOTO European Village: House of Culture in Roscani renovated

Chisinau, 18 June /MOLDPRES/- The house of culture in the village of Roscani, Straseni district has been renovated and turned into a multifunctional community center. The works were carried out as part of a project included in the European Village Program, 1st edition, with over 2.3 million lei allocated for this purpose.

According to the National Office for Regional and Local Development (ONDRL), the two-storey building, built four decades ago has remained largely unused over the years, although six years ago the roof was repaired and the windows were replaced. Lack of interior repairs and adequate facilities meant that the cultural institution could not function properly, and all village events were held either at the town hall, in a small and cramped hall, or in the Cultural Centre's square.

After renovation, the cultural building was transformed into a multifunctional Community Centre.

The total value of the investment is 2.33 million lei, of which about 2.3 million lei was allocated by the Government of Moldova through the National Fund for Regional and Local Development and 35 thousand lei is the contribution of the local community.

At the same time, through the National Programme European Village Express, a basketball court was built in the locality on the territory of the public stadium, thus contributing to increasing access to quality sports services for the approximately 730 young people and children in the village. The value of the project for this basketball court is 440 thousand lei, financial resources allocated from the National Fund for Regional and Local Development.

According to the mayor of the village, Irina Gonța, the construction of this basketball court has brought more opportunities to the local children, giving them the possibility to play and interact in their free time.

ONDRL data shows that so far, through the European Village and European Village Express, 78 cultural buildings and 88 sports fields have been renovated/modernised/fitted with furniture and equipment, improving the living conditions for about 350 thousand people in 171 localities across the country.
