Chisinau, 25 July /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu has discussed with Labour and Social Protection Minister Alexei Buzu the efforts undertaken by the authorities for the improvement of the social services and for the state’s assistance to reach the people who are mostly in need, the presidential press service has reported.
„Despite the crises, we have managed to increase the pensions, to provide one-off assistance to pensioners. Against three years ago, the payments for the pensions increased by 11.3 billion lei. Against the background of the energy blackmail, in the last two winters, compensations for energy and heating were provided to 790,000 citizens, ’’ President Maia Sandu said.
Also, the officials discussed the one-off childbirth allowance, which grew to 20,000 lei and the fact that a monthly allocation of 1,000 lei is paid to each to child up to the age of two years. At the same time, the women choosing to return to work receive now both the salary and the childcare allowance. And in more settlements, spaces were created for new crèche groups and the current ones were renovated, financed including through the European Village programme.
„People with whom I discuss in our villages signal us cases when people able for work do not want to be employed and during years benefit from social assistance at the expense of those who work and pay taxes. The institutions in charge made more verifications and cut ten-fold the number of unemployed people who received social benefits and each time refused the job supplies,’’ the head of state noted.
Since the beginning of this year, the National Employment Agency has managed to help 9,000 jobless people to be employed and the reformation of State Labour Inspectorate points to the first results in terms of combatting the unregistered labour. The Moldovan president stressed that more serious efforts were needed, in order to remove the frauds in the process of providing the disability degrees, so that the resources allocated by the state reach the people who need them most of all.
„I asked the ministry’s team, in all efforts we take, to put bigger emphasis on the reduction of poverty among children, to make sure that the assistance we provide reach them. The children must have access to the proper conditions of good development, no matter the context in which they were born,’’ President Maia Sandu added.
