Chisinau, 31 July /MOLDPRES/ - The involvement of mayors in the decision-making processes, creation of sectoral working groups and optimizing the cooperation between the central and local public authorities have been among the subjects discussed at a meeting of the parity commission for decentralization, chaired by Prime Minister Dorin Recean, the parliament’s communication department has reported.

The PM said the government encouraged the mayoralties to increase the local revenues and implement more programmes for the development of the settlements, such as the European Village and Express European Village programmes. ‘’The decentralization process is a common priority and our strategic goal is to be able to access the pre-accession funds as soon as possible, in order to create a better life for our citizens.

Our duty is to edify a friendly environment for the economic and social development, to edify Europe here, at home,’’ the prime minister said.

At the same time, PM Dorin Recean urged the local authorities to discuss with the citizens the importance of their participation in the constitutional referendum on Moldova’s accession to EU, due on 20 October, on the purpose of the correct informing of the residents.
