Moldovan PM says emergency state in agriculture to be introduced in certain districts

Chisinau, 4 September /MOLDPRES/ - At a today’s meeting of the Commission for Emergency Situations (CSE), we approved the allocation of 100 million lei from the agriculture intervention fund for the compensation of the losses borne by farmers, in the wake of the drought and extremely high air temperatures of the last summer. Prime Minister Dorin Recean made statements to this effect at the today’s cabinet meeting.   

The PM asked the Finance Ministry to make sure that the assistance reaches the concerned enterprises as quickly as possible.  

„We continue identifying additional resources for backing the farmers, in form of compensating the losses, increase in the subsidies or guaranteeing the loans by the state. For the next week, we have prepared the instrument which announces emergency situation for farmers, especially producers of cereals, from certain districts of Moldova, according to the model from Romania,’’ Dorin Recean said.  

The prime minister demanded that Deputy PM, Agriculture and Food industry Minister Vladimir Bolea makes sure that the regulatory package and legislative compliances were prepared to this end.
