Moldova to cooperate in economic sector with one of most prosperous, industrialized lands of Germany

Chisinau, 2 October /MOLDPRES/ - A memorandum of understanding on the cooperation between Moldova and the Baden-Württemberg land from Germany was signed in Chisinau today. The memorandum will contribute to the extension of the opportunities of cooperation between the two sides and attraction of foreign investments in Moldova.    

The document was signed by Deputy PM, Economic Development and Digitalization Minister Dumitru Alaiba and Prime Minister of Baden-Württemberg Land Winfried Kretschmann.  

„The today’s event represents an important step for the development of our economic, commercial, investment relations. We established a common vision for the future. We are to make efforts, in order to boost our relations with the Baden-Württemberg land, which is one of the most dynamic and most developed lands of Germany, home for more world renowned companies, which we expect in Moldova. We will take efforts to attract an as large as possible number of investments,’’ the deputy PM said.   

Alaiba added that Germany had been and would stay a reliable friend of Moldova, backing the country both at the bilateral level and on its European integration way.

PM of Baden-Württemberg Land Winfried Kretschmann expressed support for Moldova’s European integration way. ‘’We want to support and accompany your country on the European integration way, as namely in this context of Russia’s aggression war against Ukraine, we find out how important is that the democracy and the free peoples are united and stay one beside the other against this aggression. Therefore, we assure you of our full support. We have special respect for Moldova’s performance and for the people from this country, who manage to approach central reforms in particularly difficult conditions,’’ the official said.        

Baden-Württemberg is one of the most prosperous and industrialized lands of Germany, with a diversified and innovating economic sector.

Presently, 426 enterprises with German capital work in Moldova. In terms of the value of the capital invested, Germany ranks eighth among the principal investors of Moldova.   

As for the commerce, in 2023, Germany ranked fifth among Moldova’s trade partners, with a value of 839.2 million dollars, up by 3.7 per cent against 2022.
