Head of Moldova's General Police Inspectorate says police to ensure public order during holding of runoff election

Chisinau, 1 November /MOLDPRES/ - Policemen will ensure the public order during the holding of the runoff of the presidential elections, due on 3 November.
Contacted by MOLDPRES, the head of the General Police Inspectorate (IGP), Viorel Cernauteanu, said that the institution had taken all measures necessary for ensuring order at the ballot.
„Policemen will have the task to ensure the security nearby the polling stations and the maintenance of the public order. At the same time, the law-enforcers will react also to eventual notifications received on behalf of citizens. Policemen ask people to inform the authorities, if eventual infringements appear,’’ Viorel Cernauteanu said.
The IGP leadership presented recommendations for the citizens, so that the electoral process is carried out without infringements and in safety. ‘’In order not to allow infringements on the election day, the police recommend that the citizens do not enter the polling station with dangerous objects, fire arms or white arms, do not destroy electoral lists or posters and not take ballot papers out of the precincts of the polling station,’’ Cernauteanu also said.
The runoff of the presidential elections will be held on 3 November. The citizens are expected to vote at those 2,219 polling stations, of which 1,988 are opened on the territory of Moldova, of which 30 ones for the residents on the left bank of Dniester. Another 231 polling stations are opened in 37 countries for the Diaspora voters.
