Chisinau, 29 August /MOLDPRES/ - A number of 59 companies from Moldova will benefit from grants worth about 25 million lei. The funds are provided by the European Union, the World Bank and the government of Moldova. The beneficiaries on 28 August were announced at a festive event organized in Chisinau.
Thus, 35 companies will benefit from funds on behalf of the European Union worth 14.2 million lei. Another 22 companies will receive grants provided by the Moldovan government, in amount of 9.8 million lei. Another two companies will receive financing worth 644,000 lei on behalf of the World Bank.
At the event, Deputy Prime Minister, Economic Development and Digitalization Minister Dumitru Alaiba said that, this year alone, over 1,500 entrepreneurs had benefited from support through the Programmaes managed by the Organization for Entrepreneurship Development (ODA), with the support of the government and foreign partners.
„We will continue backing the entrepreneurs. We assure you that we are with you through all we do, through the effort of reducing the bureaucracy. In one year, we eliminated the equivalent of 0.5 per cent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of bureaucracy – money which you save. Another aspect is the digitalization: 80 per cent of your interactions with the state are in the digital regime. The great opportunity comes on behalf of markets from the West: the EU market, the one of the EFTA countries. Here, we are with you, to help as many as possible of you to go abroad, to be able to do a business far beyond Moldova’s borders and achieve a high level of development,’’ Dumitru Alaiba noted.
Ambassador of the European Union to Moldova Jānis Mažeiks said that the support of the entrepreneurs was a priority for Moldova and EU would continue providing backing to the country. ‘’A successful entrepreneur has a strong impact on the development of communities where they work. A successful entrepreneur has impact on the quality of living of the people in these communities. Therefore, EU provides grants to entrepreneurs, for visions, for development, for prosperity. In the context of the negotiations on Moldova’s accession to the European Union, Moldova is in process of adaptation of the legislation on the regulation of the entrepreneurship. The support for the development of the small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) is certainly a priority for Moldova as well,’’ the ambassador said.
The grants are distributed through a string of programmes managed by ODA, including the programme on support of women’s entrepreneurship, the START Programme for Youth, the PARE 1+2 Programme, the Programma on upgrading and energy efficiency of SMEs, Programme on ecologization of the small- and medium-sized enterprises and the Programme on enhancement of the competitiveness to export and internationalization of SMEs.
