Moldovan president, PM of Luxembourg discuss Moldova's accession to EU

Chisinau, 13 September /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today had a meeting with Prime Minister of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg Luc Frieden, on an official visit to Moldova, the presidential press service has reported.
During discussions, the head of state thanked the Luxembourg PM for the fact that his country, as EU founding state, backed Moldova’s accession to the European Union. She stressed the interest in boosting the cooperation with Luxembourg in the economic sector. President Maia Sandu highlighted also the opportunities of investments in Moldova in different sectors of the economy.
„Luxembourg, as founding member of the European Union, supports us on our European integration way, in our efforts to stay part of the free world and to maintain peace in Moldova. We were set to strengthen the relations between our states, in order to consolidate the regional security on a period full of challenges and to create new opportunities of cooperation. Together, we can edify a safer and more prosperous future for Moldova, our region and the whole continent,’’ the Moldovan president stressed.
At the same time, the officials tackled aspects on the regional security, resistance to the external influences, efforts to consolidate the rule of law state and the reform of justice in Moldova.
The official launch of the negotiations on accession to the European Union took place in Luxembourg on 25 June 2024.
