Moldovan foreign affairs minister says Moldova interested in opening diplomatic mission in Egypt

Chisinau, 23 September /MOLDPRES/ - The consolidation of the bilateral legal framework and the resumption of the negotiations on the Free Trade Agreement between Moldova and Egypt have been the subjects discussed by Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs Minister Mihai Popsoi at a meeting with Egyptian Foreign Affairs Minister Badr Abdelatty in New York.
„We discussed the strengthening of the bilateral relations and I noted that Moldova is interested in opening a diplomatic mission in Egypt. At the same time, I informed Egyptian Minister Badr Abdelatty that we appreciate the positive decision of Egypt to set up the Honorific Consulate of Moldova in Cairo,’’ the Moldovan diplomacy head said.
Mihai Popsoi also said that the discussion had been focused also on the consolidation of the bilateral legal framework. ‘’I expressed Moldova’s interest in taking over the experience of Egypt in the field of the renewable and sustainable energy, as well as the intention to attract Egyptian investments in agriculture, medicine. In the end of the meeting, I made an invitation to my Egyptian counterpart to visit Moldova,’’ Popsoi noted.
Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs Minister Mihai Popsoi on 23-27 September participates in the works of the high-level segment of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly, held in New York. At the visit, he will have bilateral meetings with his counterparts from diverse regions of the world, heads of UN specialized entities, regional organizations and representatives of international non-governmental organizations.
