Moldovan PM visits fruit-growing business in Donduseni district

Chisinau, 3 October /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Dorin Recean today visited, in the Scaieni village, northern Donduseni district, a business of Viorel Popovici – an entrepreneur who develops a business in fruit growing, by cultivating apples and plums, the government’s communication department has reported.   

The PM appreciated the fact that the entrepreneur was implementing innovative solutions and good practices, in order to get a richer and more qualitative production. ‘’As many as possible farmers should reorient themselves to products with high value added and new technologies. Only in this way, we will have competitive native products, which should meet the rigours of the European market,’’ Prime Minister Dorin Recean said.      

The businessman modernizes his plantations, with the help of state programmes on subsidization in agriculture. In the last three years, he had planted new hyper-intensive orchards, with anti-hail net and a modern irrigation system, in order to enhance the productivity. Also, the entrepreneur has a fridge for preserving fruits with a capacity of about 200 tons. Presently, apples and plums are preserved here.     

To modernize the business, Viorel Popovici benefited from projects of the Agency of Intervention and Payments for Agriculture (AIPA), Organization for Entrepreneurship Development, Agency for Development and Modernization and Agriculture, etc. At the same time, he participates in diverse trainings available for farmers, which helps them manage the business as efficiently as possible.

The owner managers about 30 hectares of tillable land and orchards in all and in the long run, he wants to extend the plantation of intensive orchard and buy a sorting line, which would facilitate the export of his products.
