Integration into EU country's strategic goal. Moldova's Constitution amended through referendum published in Official Journal

Chisinau, 12 November /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova’s Constitution, amended through referendum, will be published in the Official Journal (Monitorul Oficial) on 13 November. Thus, the integration into the European Union will become the country’s strategic goal.
Under the document, the preamble of the Fundamental Law will be completed with two new paragraphs with the following content; ‘’RECONFIRMING the European identity of the Republic of Moldova’s people and the irreversibility of the European integration way of the Republic of Moldova. DECLARING the integration into the European Union as strategic goal of the Republic of Moldova.’’
Also, the title V, first, will be introduced – INTEGRATION INTO THE EUROPEAN UNION and it will have the following content: Accession to the constitutive treaties and to the acts on the revision of the constitutive treaties of the European Union:
(1) The accession of the Republic of Moldova to the constitutive treaties of the European Union, as well as to the acts on the revision of the constitutive treaties of the European Union is established by the parliament under organic law.
(2) Following the accession, the provisions of the constitutive treaties of the European Union, as well as the other compulsory legal acts of the European Union have priority against the contrary stipulations from the domestic laws, with the observance of the provisions of the act on accession.’’
The magistrates of the Constitutional Court on 31 October confirmed the results of the republican constitutional referendum from 20 October. Most citizens who participated in the ballot voted for the YES option at the referendum.
