Moldovan PM has discussions with executive committee of UN development agencies

Chisinau, 2 December /MOLDPRES/ - The work of the United Nations’ agencies in Moldova and the adjusting of the assistance programmes to the national priorities of development were analyzed at the government today. The discussion took place at a meeting of the executive committee of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), United Nations Development Programme (UNFPA) and of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS). Attending the event was Prime Minister Dorin Recean, the government’s communication department has reported.
The prime minister thanked for the support provided to Moldova by the three UN entities, focused on the strengthening of the capacities of the public institutions, inclusion of refugees, improvement of the social cohesion, promotion of the demographic resilience, economic development and social protection.
„The assistance which we receive is important not only to cope with the current challenges, but also to turn to good account the development opportunities. In the fulfillment of our strategic goal, multiple transformations are necessary and the expertise provided by the UN agencies for the implementation of the EU acquis helps us quicker advance on this way,’’ PM Dorin Recean said.
The prime minister stressed that the government’s activity was focused, in continuation, on the justice reform, ensuring the supremacy of law – essential aspects for the carrying out of the other goals of the authorities. Also, the goal is to enhance the investors’ trust, increase the level of digitalization and support the economic growth, in order to make more social investments.
The members of the executive committee of the UNDP, UNFPA and UNOPS appreciated the strategic partnership with Moldova’s authorities, the developments in the carrying out of the key reforms, as well as the synergy of the European integration agenda and of the Sustainable Development Goals, meant to ensure a prosperous future for all people of Moldova.
The executive committee of the UNDP, UNFPA and UNOPS pays an official visit to Moldova on 2-4 December. The Committee’s members will meet more ministers, representatives of the local public authorities and other national partners, in order to establish the current needs of assistance, correlated with the national development priorities.
