PM attends Fruits Business Conference in Moldova

Chisinau, 5 December /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Dorin Recean has attended the Fruits Business Conference in Moldova, which is at its tenth edition. The event brought together over 200 producers and exporters of fruits, as well as providers of solutions for the horticultural sector, the government’s communication department has reported.  

PM Dorin Recean appreciated the dynamism of the horticulture sector and its successful transformation. Among the results achieved, there are the diversification of the market, big increases of exports to the European Union and records at the export of sweet cherries, table grapes and plums. Also, the technological endowment of the processes takes place and the entrepreneurs use last generation equipment.    

„With the globalization, the access to technologies in Moldova is the same as anywhere in other countries. Moreover, our country becomes generator of technologies, in this respect. We thank you for the effort of industrialization and increase of the value added in agriculture. You represent an example for other sectors from the same branch,’’ Prime Minister Dorin Recean said.     

According to the PM, the government will continue identifying solutions in the context of the climate changes, as well as to help enhance the sector’s profitability. At the same time, the Law of horticulture is to be approved, which will create new opportunities for the entrepreneurs of the field.   

The event, organized in partnership with the Rural Competitiveness and Resilience Activity in Moldova Project of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), Ukraine-Moldova American Enterprise Fund (UMAEF) and the Investments Agency of Moldova, is held on 5 and 6 December.  The 2024 edition of the Conference is focused on the identification of solutions to the biggest challenges of the sector: extreme weather conditions and ensuring the quality of fruits, in order to enhance the competitiveness on the international market.
