Moldovan Energy Ministry summons sector's enterprises to prepare decisions in case of possible energy crisis

Chisinau, 6 December /MOLDPRES/ - The Energy Ministry has summoned a meeting with the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) and the energy sector’s enterprises, in order to consider the situation in the energy sector and prepare the decisions needed for the prevention and management of the eventual energy crisis.   

Thus, the participants in the meeting reported the stage of implementation of the measures according to the winter plan, which provides for 45 measures for ensuring the security of the supply of energy resources during this winter, including the cutting of the voluntary consumption of the natural gas by 15 per cent, according to the European Union’s recommendations, as well as the promotion of the use of alternative fuels.    

The participants found out that a major challenge was the lack of reserving the  capacity of transportation of natural gas on the Trans-Balkan route in reverse flow regime, which affects the consumers on the left bank of Dniester. The reserving of the capacity for January 2025 must be carried out till 16 December 2024, 18:00 and for the day of 1 January 2025, till 31 December 2024, at 18:00.

The participants in the meeting ruled that the operator of the gas transport system from Moldova, VestMoldTransGaz, would closely cooperate with all operators on the Trans-Balkan route, having priority the daily monitoring of the reserving of the capacity by traders and the providing of natural gas, with the constant reporting to the Energy Ministry.   

The participants in the meeting discussed the immediate measures for ensuring the supply with natural gas for the protected consumers, the mobilization of the internal capacities of generation of electric energy and maximizing the imports of electric energy.   

The Energy Ministry continues to examine and monitor the scenarios of risk regarding the security of supply with natural gas and electric energy, making sure that all needed measures are undertaken, in order to prevent any energy crisis and to protect the consumers.
