20 farmers to receive grants for modern farming practices

Chisinau, Dec. 9 /MOLDPRES/- The program of post-investment grants for sustainable land management continues to support farmers in adopting modern and efficient agricultural practices. Under the fifth call for grants, the evaluation and selection committee has approved 20 applications so far, awarding grants of over 185 thousand dollars.

"The average value of a grant is about 9,300 dollars. These funds have been allocated to support farmers in adopting modern agricultural technologies and practices aimed at improving productivity and sustainability in the agricultural sector," the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry says.

The grant program compensates part of the costs related to the purchase of agricultural equipment and the implementation of innovative methods such as No-Till drills, high-performance combine harvesters and shredders, water reservoirs and efficient irrigation systems. The aim of these investments is to promote sustainable management of agricultural resources and increase farmers' competitiveness.

Since the launch of the program in 2022, 88 applications have been approved, representing a total amount of funding of approximately $780 thousand.

The latest funding call is underway and interested farmers are encouraged to submit applications by December 31, 2024.
