Average monthly wage forecast for 2025 to be 16,100 lei

Chisinau, Dec. 18 /MOLDPRES/- As of 1 January 2025, the average monthly salary will increase by 2,400 lei to reach 16,100 lei. A decision to this effect was approved at today's cabinet meeting.

According to the government's communication department, the average monthly salary per economy is taken into account when determining the ceiling of social insurance allowances, the monthly insured income of IT park employees, as well as when determining the amount of damages in case of legal violations.

Also today, the Cabinet approved the decision on the size of the minimum wage, which in 2025 will amount to 5,500 lei, up by 500 lei than in 2024.

The minimum wage increase to 5,500 lei is justified by the need to maintain the purchasing power of the labor force. The minimum wage increase is also a necessary measure to reduce poverty and combat undeclared work.

The size of the minimum wage is set for a full 169-hour work program, representing 32.54 lei per hour. From 1 January 2023, the minimum wage was increased by about 12.5% - up to 4,000 lei, and in 2024, it increased by another 25%, reaching 5,000 lei.
