Ceremony of Maia Sandu's swearing in office of Moldova's president to take place on 24 December

Chisinau, 18 December /MOLDPRES/ - The ceremony of Maia Sandu’s swearing in the office of Moldova’s president will take place on 24 December starting from 10:30. The head of the Moldovan President’s Office, Adrian Balutel, has confirmed the information for MOLDPRES.
Under Moldova’s Constitution, the oath is taken before the parliament and the Constitutional Court 45 days after the elections at the latest.
The mandate of Moldova’s president lasts four years and is exercised starting the date of taking the oath. The head of state exercises his/her mandate till the swearing in office of the newly elected president.
At the runoff presidential election held on 3 November 2024, Maia Sandu picked up 930,139 votes and her counter-candidate –Alexandr Stoianoglo – 750,430 votes. Thus, Maia Sandu will become the first president elected by the people managing to get two mandates.
The Constitutional Court confirmed the results of the presidential elections and validated the mandate of Moldova’s President got by Maia Sandu on 28 November 2024.
