Chisinau, 26 December /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova has got the best score in terms of the implementation of the EU’s acquis in the 2024 year, assessed at 66 per cent, with significant progress in the sector of energy efficiency of renewable energy sources. The findings are contained in the Annual Implementation Report of the Energy Community’s Secretariat for 2024, according to which Moldova ranked first among those nine non-EU member countries parties to the Energy Community Treaty.

Thus, the progress in the energy efficiency field is due mainly to the achievements got in terms of  Labelling of energy efficient products, evaluated at 94 per cent, due to the transposition of the EU’s framework regulation on labelling and the introduction into the national normative framework of the updated requirements concerning the energy labeling of five groups of products.

The achievements of the chapter, System of obligations in energy efficiency field and financing, were assessed at the level of 92 per cent, due to the approval and starting of the Programme on the implementation of the mechanism of obligations in the energy efficiency sector for the period 2024-2026 and of the Programme on financing, Energy Efficiency Fund from the residential sector of Moldova, through which projects on energy rehabilitation of multi-storied blocks of flats and private houses are financed in the residential sector.

As for the chapter, Energy efficiency of buildings, Secretariat’s experts assessed Moldova’s progress at 90 per cent. The document points to the full transposition of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD), as well as the approval of a string of regulations related, necessary for the enforcement of the primary legislation.

Another result represents the establishment of the general target and of the sectoral targets for the renewable energy in the gross final consumption of energy, in line with the targets set within the Energy Community for the 2030 year. For instance, in the chapter, Renewable energy targets 2030, according to which, till 2030, their weight in the structure of Moldova’s overall energy consumption should reach 27 per cent, the progress is estimated at 73 per cent. At the same time, according to the report, the total capacity of the renewable energy institutions from Moldova reached 345 MW in 2023.
