Moldovan foreign affairs minister has phone conversation with Lithuanian counterpart

Chisinau, 27 December /MOLDPRES/- New Foreign Affairs Minister of Lithuania Kęstutis Budrys has reaffirmed Lithuania’s commitment to back Moldova on its European integration way and in the consolidation of the long-term bilateral relations. He gave assurances to this effect during a phone conversation with Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs Minister Mihai Popsoi.     

During the conversation, Mihai Popsoi congratulated Kęstutis Budrys on his appointment to office and wished him success. Also, the Moldovan diplomacy head thanked his counterpart for the constant support provided to Moldova. Popsoi stressed the importance of the development projects and the exchange of good practice, especially in the European integration sector.  

In the end, the two ministers highlighted the close relations between Moldova and Lithuania, based on friendship, active cooperation and mutual support, which contribute to the development of beneficial joint projects for both countries.

The diplomatic relations between Moldova and Lithuania were established on 8 July 1992. So far, 49 bilateral agreements have been signed and are in force. Lithuania ranks 35th among the main commercial partners of Moldova in the world. The Lithuanian government provided assistance for development, with Moldova being on top of those seven priority states.
