Over one hundred guests, including officials, bloggers, journalists and representatives of HoReCa sector, representatives of wineries and commercial networks attended in late June a unique event organized by Valul lui Traian Association, in partnership with the National Vine and Wine Office and Sommelier Guild of Moldova.

The event was dedicated to the promotion of wines with Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) from the delimited geographical region Valul lui Traian.

This was the first event of its kind organized by the association, marking an important step in the development and promotion strategy of wines from this renowned wine region.

Representatives of 14 wine companies were also present, offering their top quality wines for tasting.

More than 50 Valul lui Traian PGI wines were offered for tasting, each with a distinct character as well as sharing common nuances characteristic of the region.

Attending the event, Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Bolea, Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry came with a message of encouragement, appreciation and support for Moldovan PGI wine producers, emphasizing the importance of state support for the development of wine production in Valul lui Traian region.

Vladimir Bolea: This event marks a significant step in the promotion of PGI wines. It is essential that the state, through the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, continues to provide support to wine producers, thus contributing to the quality and international recognition of our wines.

Asked by MOLDPRES, the Deputy Prime Minister said "if we refer to a national concept, then we have to learn to sell much better everything we produce. I give you an example. When I was in Germany, a representative of the German Ministry of Agriculture told me that they with 100,000 hectares of vineyards, technical varieties produce and sell products, various types of alcoholic products, worth 1,400,000,000 euros".

Vladimir Bolea: In the Republic of Moldova, we have about 125,000 hectares, we have produced and sold about 200,000,000 euros worth. So it's an extraordinary efficiency. And all this is reflected in the revenues that companies in the Republic of Moldova have.

Director of the National Vine and Wine Office (ONVV) Ștefan Iamandi emphasized the crucial role of educating the public about the value of PGI products.

Ștefan Iamandi: Protected Geographical Indication wines are a symbol of quality and tradition. ONVV will constantly support initiatives that promote these products, ensuring that the public understands and appreciates their value.

Administrator of the UVV RGD Association Valul lui Traian Viorel Golovatiuc spoke about the association's long-term goals.

Viorel Golovatiuc: This is just the beginning. Our Association will continue to implement a broad strategy for the development and promotion of Valul lui Traian PGI wines, in close cooperation with the authorities and our partners. The Association Valul lui Traian aims to continue organizing events and initiatives to promote the quality and authenticity of Valul lui Traian PGI wines, ensuring that they become a landmark on the international wine map.

Valul lui Traian PGI is a wine region delimited for the production of wine with protected geographical indication (PGI), located in the south of the Republic of Moldova, which has stood out over time for its specific environmental features, resulting in wines with strong, specific, typical characteristics of this region.
