Moldova takes over Spain's experience in agriculture, animal husbandry sectors

Chisinau, 23 July /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova develops the cooperation with Spain in the agriculture and animal husbandry sectors. On a working visit to Spain, Deputy Prime Minister, Agriculture and Food Industry Minister Vladimir Bolea had a meeting with his Spanish counterpart Luis Planas.

The discussions were focused on the import of breeding animals from the species of sheep, specialized in the production of milk. In this respect, the two ministers had agreements on the taking over of advanced technologies of exploitation of sheep in intensive system, in order to improve the productiveness and the quality of the production of milk in Moldova. This given that Spain has a rich experience in the conservation and improvement of animals’ genetics.  

The sides also analyzed the investments made by Spain in the irrigation sector. Both ministers stressed the importance of irrigations, describing them as a fundamental investment, in order to cope with the climate challenges. The officials discussed also models of cooperation between farmers from Spain and policies which encourage the creation of cooperatives and associations of producers.      

Also on 22 July, Deputy PM Vladimir Bolea visited the farm Torreanaya Ltd, specialized in the breeding of Assaf noble race sheep. The farm is owned by Luis Bravo Bartolomé, who also holds the office of secretary of the Spanish Assaf Sheep Breeders Association.     

The farm is famous for the high quality standards in the breeding of Assaf sheep – a race recognized for the increased production of milk and the capacity of adaptation to the weather conditions. At the farm, special attention is paid especially to the genetic selection, in order to maintain and improve the features of productivity and health of sheep.   

Vladimir Bolea appreciated the farmer’s efforts to promote the highest standards in animal husbandry. He emphasized the commitment of the Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry to back the similar initiatives in Moldova, in order to increase the number of animals from Moldova.
