Chisinau, 1 November /MOLDPRES/ - The justice reform will be a priority following the presidential elections, the candidate of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) for the Moldovan president’s office, Maia Sandu, has said at a meeting with Russian-speaking journalists. Sandu, who aspires to the second mandate of president, answered journalists’ questions and referred to the actions she would undertake, if she won the elections.
„Following the elections, the justice reform will be a priority, so that what happened now, when votes are bought, should not repeat at the parliamentary elections. I reiterate that I want that namely the Moldovans decide their destiny and not the dirty money. We will have to meet representatives of all political parties, which are not financed by Shor’s ring, as all parties can lose, if this mechanism of purchasing votes is not ceased. We must reach a consensus on the new measures of reformation of justice, so that the people who buy votes are called to account and cannot repeat these infringements,’’ Maia Sandu said.
Maia Sandu also said that she had discussed with citizens their expectations concerning Moldova’s economic development and creation of jobs. The PAS candidate stressed that she was set to achieve this with the European Union’s support.
„As for the problems in the economic sector, I discussed with the people; they want higher incomes. Certainly, we have had more crises and because of these crises, the economy did not develop just as we wanted. I believe that we need more money, investments in infrastructure, as this creates also jobs in villages, where we build roads and finance projects, such as big infrastructure projects at the country level. I discussed these things with the European Union as to the providing of assistance to develop the economy,’’ Maia Sandu noted.
As far as the foreign policy is concerned, Maia Sandu promised to continue to make efforts to maintain peace in Moldova and develop good relations with all states of the world. ‘’In the foreign policy, we will continue to work to maintain peace; this is the most important thing. I have always followed from this goal. Another priority is the improvement of the relations with all states of the world, to be respected, helped, in order to be able to live in safe conditions, just as we have lived in the last four years,’’ the PAS candidate said.
Asked by journalists to say whether the authorities had made an assessment of the process of Moldova’s reintegration and whether they had a plan to this end, Maia Sandu said that she had made an evaluation along with the development partners and that the figures regarding the cost of the reintegration would be pretty high. At the same time, Maia Sandu said the authorities had a plan on economic and social reintegration of the two banks of Dniester and that it would be implement at the fit moment, with partners’ support.
Maia Sandu urged the citizens to participate in the elections due on 3 November and to vote sincerely, without being influenced by anybody. ‘’We can defend the democracy by participating in the elections and voting namely how we feel and believe, but not depending on the money paid in favour of a group,’’ Maia Sandu also said.
The runoff of the presidential elections will take place in Moldova on 3 November. The current President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, backed by PAS and the Socialists’ candidate, Alexandr Stoianoglo, will fight for the office of head of state.
