Chisinau, Nov 7 /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov discussed on Wednesday with several representatives of civil society the conclusions of the EU Enlargement Package for Moldova, which was published by the European Commission a few days ago.

The participants in the talks analyzed the progress made over the past year, as well as the priorities for the coming year.

"Together with several colleagues from civil society, who accepted the invitation for dialog launched last week, we discussed the conclusions of the EU Enlargement Package for Moldova, published by the European Commission a few days ago. We talked about how we can better coordinate and synchronize our efforts so that, together, we can prepare the Republic of Moldova for EU membership", said Gherasimov.

According to the official, the constant consultation and involvement of civil society organizations is a defining element of an inclusive decision-making system in a strong democracy that we want to develop.

The European Commission adopted last week the annual enlargement package, which provides a detailed assessment of the current situation and progress towards EU membership of several countries, including the Republic of Moldova. The assessments are accompanied by recommendations and guidance on reform priorities.

On the Republic of Moldova, the European Commission noted that the opening of accession negotiations was an important recognition of the country's determination to continue reforms on the path towards EU membership, "despite Russia's continued interference and the impact of Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine".

After the publication of the report, Gherasimov emphasized that there is no chapter in which Moldova has regressed and that the level of preparedness for membership has improved.
