Moldovan Foreign Affairs Ministry says Diaspora citizens can vote at runoff election, even if they did not participate in first round of voting, with no need of preliminary registration

Chisinau, 3 November /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova’s Diaspora citizens can vote at the runoff of the presidential elections, even if they did not participate in the first round of the polls, without the preliminary registration needed. The Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) has made statements to this effect, in the context of the holding of the runoff election.
MAE noted that some polling stations from France, Italy, the United Kingdom, Spain and Belgium had changed their addresses. Thus, the authorities recommend that the Moldovan citizens who live in these countries verify the addresses of the polling station before going to vote.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry, along with the diplomatic missions from abroad and the Central Electoral Commission, will inform the citizens about the voter turnout and the conditions in which the ballot is carried out.
Moldova’s citizens today will elect their president for the next four years. In this respect, 231 polling stations were opened abroad in 37 countries.
The first votes for the presidential elections in Moldova today were given in Tokyo, Japan, 8,500 km far from the country. Eleven Moldovan tourists were the first to come to the polling station placed at the headquarters of Moldova’s Embassy in Tokyo.
