Moldovan electoral body presents preliminary results: Maia Sandu leads with 53,14 % of votes, Alexandr Stoianoglo picks up 46,86 % of ballots

Chisinau, 4 November /MOLDPRES/ - Following the verification of over 96 per cent of the official reports, the current president, Maia Sandu, leads, getting 53.14 per cent of the votes. The candidate of the Party of Socialists (PSRM), Alexandr Stoianoglo, picked up 46.86 per cent of the ballots, according to the preliminary results of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC).
As many as 830,596 electors voted for the candidate of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), Maia Sandu.
A number of 732,450 electors voted for the PSRM candidate, Alexandr Stoianoglo.
The runoff presidential elections were held in Moldova on 3 November. The current President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, backed by the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) and the candidate of the Party of Socialists (PSRM), Alexandr Stoianoglo, fought for the office of head of state.
As many as 1,695,718 electors or 54.26 per cent of the citizens with right to vote participated in the elections.
