DOC Over 11 thousand archaeological sites to be set in national archaeological register

Chisinau, July 3 /MOLDPRES/- Over 11,000 archaeological sites in the country will be included in the national archaeological register, which will benefit from special protection. The law and the presidential decree promulgating it were published in the Official Journal today.

The register contains detailed data on each archaeological site, including its location, type and dating.

The law approving the National Archaeological Register was drafted by the Ministry of Culture in collaboration with the National Archaeological Agency, based on information from the Register of Monuments of the Republic of Moldova protected by the state, information and studies published in specialized literature and the manuscript of the Repertory of Archaeological Monuments.

According to the authors, the Register will provide the necessary information support for the protection and use of archaeological sites. 

The law enters into force upon the publication in the Official Journal.
